Granite is the most common material used to make memorials. It is durable and available in wide range of colours. We offer a wide range of granites including Australian and imported materials.

The rules and regulations of most Memorial Parks do vary and this could determine which type and style of memorial is allowed. The rules and regulations can differ from cemetery to cemetery and it would be advisable that you have this confirmed prior to placing your order.

Bruce Jordan Memorials offers a wide range of styles and colours to cater for specifications as well as advice on design and lettering.

Granites are coarse-grained igneous rocks generally composed of quartz, feldspar and mica. They are formed of molten material, usually under great pressure, and are crystalline, hard and heavy. Granite has greater strength, is less porous and is generally more resistant to staining than marble. Each granite has its own characteristics; it varies in colour from block to block even within the same colour grades. Some of the imported granites may also vary in appearance, texture, graining and colour.

As granite is a natural stone, it is subject to small occurring cracks. Polished granite surfaces are highly resistant to weathering. Polished surfaces can easily be washed with water using a sponge or chamois. Avoid walking on unswept polished granite as the coarse dirt or grit may have an abrasive affect. Exposure to oil and grease should also be avoided as these will quickly penetrated and stain the surface. The residual stain can partially be dissipated by soaking it with a non oily solvent such as white spirits or methylated spirits. Candle wax can also penetrate and will stain granite. There is no known treatment available for candle wax stains.
