Inscriptions
There are many types and styles of lettering available for your memorial as outlined below:
- Embossed - Background is sandblasted away leaving each letter raised with a polished finish. The background is then painted, sealed or left with a natural sandblasted finish. Recommended for granite with a natural, washed/sealed or painted finish.
- Incised - Sandblasted in to the stone and then each letter is painted or gilded. Recommended for granite with a gold, painted, washed or natural finish
- Hand V Cut - This is incised as above then hand finished in a "V". Each letter is then painted or gilded. Recommended for granite with a gold, painted, washed or natural finish
- Lead - Each letter is sandblasted into the marble and "keying" holes are drilled in to each letter. Lead is then tapped in to the key holes and letter. These are finished/dressed flush with each with the face of the marble. The letters are treated with ammonia to give a sharp black finish. Recommended for marble with a natural finish.
- Raised Lead - The granite is drilled with "key" holes and molten lead is poured to form a blank. Each letter is then hand chiselled to shape and the face of the letter is sometimes painted. Recommended for granite with a natural finish
- Bronze - Letters are available in various styles with pins attached. The stone is drilled and the letter is glued on with epoxy. Can be used on any surface.
Letter material finishes are available in gold, bronze and painted. Gold lettering is 23 carat gold leaf. Bronze comes with a protective clear coating and the painted finish is completed with oil based enamel paint.
Embellishments
Ceramic photos at best can only as good as the photo it is reproduced from. A copy of the photo is burnt into a porcelain ceramic and in some cases the heat from this process can change the colouring slightly. With digital camera technology better quality images can be produced. If your photo is small and needs to be enlarged it may lose definition and have a grainy effect. We recommend a focussed image as close to the required size as possible. Photos with shadows should be avoided.
A ceramic photo lifespan is in the vicinity of 50 years and they are available in various sizes:
- 7 x 9 cm
- 8 x 10 cm
- 9 x 12 cm
- 11 x 15 cm
We also have a large range of bronze figurines, crucifixes, oil lamps and marble statues available to add those finishing touches.
